Tecnology Talk: DAB Radio (Digital)
Radio now whats that? Is that still around? With television taking over and the advent of computer games you may be wandering where radio has gone? Well it never went anywhere! Radio has now been brought kicking and screaming into the digital age with the advent of DAB. Some people say that DAB radio is doomed but I say that they are being a bit premature in their predictions. Yes I will admit that it has had a rocky start, however over 6 million( 27% of households now owning a DAB digital radio-) DAB radios have been sold in the U.K. and this number is growing. Well, the big issue is that most peoples radio listening takes place in the car and how many cars have a digital radio? Not Many and this is where the problem lies. However the clever people at Pure have created an in car digital radio that can be retrofitted to any car just like a portable sat nav system. I believe that once in car DAB uptake grows this will spur OFCOM to reconsider turning off the old analogue radio signal, as enough people will have a Digital Radio. Well I have recently joined the digital radio club and I am glad that I have. On a side note Jazz FM is to be relaunched by its new owners, only on digital radio :-) I have recently bought the Pure One Mini DAB radio. It is the cheapest radio that Pure currently make....cheap in price not in quality. (Review to follow)
